Importance of Saddles
What's Does an Appointment Involve?
Fitting saddles is like fitting a child's shoe. It must be done correctly to allow for movement without pinching or pain. Proper saddle fit is an important part of the whole equation for keeping riders and horses happy, healthy, and best able to perform.
Test ride multiple models and sizes of County saddles to experience a marked difference in feel and performance. We encourage a teamwork approach in helping each client and invite trainers, veterinarians and other professionals to join in the fun!
We can also evaluate the fit of your current saddle. Plus, since County fitters work under the principles of the Master Saddlers Association (MSA), they are able to make flocking adjustments to County saddles onsite to accommodate horses’ continuously changing toplines.
Listen to Your Horse!
Often, riders do not realize their saddle is hindering their balance and effectiveness or the horse's comfort and abilities until shown otherwise.
Potential saddle related problems include inconsistent stride, pulled rails, sore back, bucking, bolting, rearing, girthiness, working hollow, resistance under saddle, slow to loosen up, cold-backed, fussiness, cross-cantering, wringing tail, etc.
Beware of the seemingly quick fix of both adjustable trees and forcibly bending and stretching trees to adjust their size. Click here for important information.
